What's included

Every removal job in Colorado Springs includes:

  • Site protection, plywood on adjacent slabs, tarps on landscaping, plastic on siding within reach
  • Utility check, call 811 for buried-utility locates 3 business days before any digging
  • Sawcut clean edges at house, sidewalk, adjacent driveway, or wherever the new pour will tie in
  • Breakout, jackhammers, breakers, or mini-excavator depending on access and slab thickness
  • Rebar / mesh cut out and separated from concrete
  • Haul-off via dump trailer or roll-off, depending on volume
  • Recycling at a permitted concrete recycler (~100% diversion from landfill)
  • Base re-prep if a new pour is going in, overexcavate, regrade, install Class 6 base, compact
  • Final cleanup, broom, wash adjacent surfaces, walk-through

What we remove most often

  • Failed residential driveways (1980s–2000s pours that have spalled or cracked beyond repair)
  • Cracked or settled patios
  • Heaved or spalled sidewalks and walkway panels
  • Old slab-on-grade (sheds, ADUs, prior outbuildings)
  • Small detached-garage foundations being replaced
  • Retaining wall demo (timber, segmental, or failed concrete)
  • Hot tub pads, pool deck sections, and grill-area slabs

Removal-only vs bundled with new pour

We do both, and the cost structure is different:

ScenarioApprox costNotes
Removal only (no new pour)$2–$5 / sq ftMobilization, demo, haul. Higher per-foot because we're not coming back.
Removal bundled with replacement$1.50–$3 / sq ftDiscounted because crew is already on-site for the pour.
Thick foundation / pier removal$5–$12 / sq ftHeavier equipment, more time per cu yd.
Trip-hazard panel removal$200–$500 per panelSingle sidewalk square cut + remove.

What drives the price

  1. Thickness. Standard 4" slab removes fast. 6"+ reinforced takes ~50% longer.
  2. Reinforcement. Rebar grid roughly doubles the time of mesh-only.
  3. Access. Drivable access for a mini-ex is cheapest. Wheelbarrow-only doubles labor.
  4. Distance to dump. We're efficient inside Colorado Springs and El Paso County. Remote properties (deep Black Forest, Teller County interior) add haul time.
  5. Adjacent obstacles. Working next to a finished slab, retaining wall, gas line, or sprinklers means slower, hand-tool work.

Why choose us for removal

Sawcut edges, not jagged break-outs

Cheap removal crews break out the slab without sawcutting first. The result: ragged edges, damage to adjacent concrete, and a new pour that won't tie in cleanly. We sawcut every edge with a walk-behind diamond blade before demo. The new pour bonds straight to a square face.

One crew, one day for typical residential

Most driveway and patio removals are a one-day job. Crew, equipment, dump trailer, and finish cleanup all in the same window. You're not living next to a debris pile for a week.

100% recycled, no landfill

Every load goes to a permitted concrete recycler in El Paso County where it's crushed and reused as Class 6 road base. EPA estimates concrete recycling diverts roughly 140 million tons of construction debris from landfills annually nationwide, we do our share.

Removal FAQs

How much does concrete removal cost in Colorado Springs?

Standard 4-inch concrete removal runs $2–$4 per square foot for residential driveways and patios with reasonable access. Thicker reinforced slabs, foundations, or limited-access jobs can run $4–$8 per square foot. Sidewalk panels are usually quoted per panel.

Do you haul the concrete away?

Yes. Every removal quote includes hauling and disposal at a permitted recycling facility. We recycle nearly 100% of concrete debris, it gets crushed and reused as road base, not landfilled.

Can you remove concrete near my house without damage?

Yes. We sawcut clean lines next to existing structures and use jackhammers, mini-excavators, or hand tools depending on proximity. We protect adjacent slabs, walls, and landscaping with plywood and tarps. Damage incidents over 1,200+ projects are well under 1%.

How long does removal take?

A typical 600 sq ft driveway: 1 day on-site (sawcut, demo, haul). Larger or thicker pours can take 2 days. We can usually start within a week of signed contract.
